Charity Softball Game Rained Out
Organizers may re-shedule game for children of fallen Trooper Marc Castellano
A softball game to raise funds to benefit the children of Trooper Marc Castellano has been cancelled due to rain.
Organizers may re-schedule the game, which will be publicized by Point Pleasant Patch.
The original plan was for Lou Russo and the 94.3 The Point’s Softball Superstars to take the field on Tuesday, taking on members of the Ocean Township Police Department in a game to benefit the children of Trooper Marc Castellano.

The game had been set for 6 p.m. at the Wanamassa Fireman’s Field, on Hopewell Avenue in Ocean Township. It would have been free to attend, but donations to the fund will be accepted.
Castellano, a New Jersey State Trooper who was born and raised in Ocean County, was struck and killed by a car in June 2010 while searching for a suspect. He left behind a wife, Stephanie, and two children: a daughter, now 5, and a son, now 2.

There would have been a short ceremony to honor Castellano before the game. His brother, Nick, is a police officer in the Ocean Township department.
Those who want to donate to the fund can send checks to the fund, administered by the State Troopers Fraternal Association:
