Raise Money For Point Boro, Point Beach Schools At Martell's This Weekend

Shore 2 Recover is holding a "Shore Up Our Schools" fund-raiser this weekend at Martell's in Point Pleasant Beach.

All proceeds will go to Point Pleasant Beach and Point Pleasant Boro schools. There are six bands performing (all of which are donating their time) and Martell's is donating the venue as well as food for the evening.

"We have incredible auction items including artwork, beach home decor, gift cards, surf camp experiences, skateboards, etc.," organizers said.

Joey - the lawsuit is pending, probably will end up in an out of court settlement based on the tox report (alcohol/no drugs) and the fact that the stolen car was in the valet parking lot with the keys inside. Yet some think the town should be "more appreciative." Go figure...

Rick Ricky, Shore 2 Recover raises funds for lots of reasons, not just rebuilding Sandy damages. You talk about "the town" being nuts and how "the town" should be more appreciative. You do realize the school and Mayor and Council are 2 entirely different groups correct? The Mayor and Council are contemplating the license renewal....not the schools.

I hope mayor Vince Barella shows up to support the schools.

A Resident, Yes I do realize they are two different groups. At the end of the day the town and schools in any town should be working together. I don't feel like they work together from what I saw a few years back. I just read an article recently that stated the superintendent of schools is what sets the tone of the town. Some might not agree with the article. I happened to. My own experience I happen to believe the schools in point pleasant beach are run poorly as well as the town. It is a show. A lot of the same people who is asking for donations from the businesses for the schools are bad mouthing some of the same businesses that is helping them. I know the school has no control over their license renewal but the town should think twice if it affects other parts of their town. It is one town and every decision made affects the other. I never heard of Shore 2 Recover before Sandy. School benefits were always titled just that school benefits. I feel its misleading.

Rick Ricky, haven't seen the article you are referencing so I can't truly comment on that. But I will disagree with the Superintendent setting the tone of the town. Superintendents and Mayors are both (and should both) be looking at their own domain first. They are not mutually exclusive, but they are not married either. I have no daily inside knowledge of the school, but I don't see a poorly run district. If I remember correctly, they share a Super, a Bus. Admin, and a teacher or two. That sounds like some smart use of people and some financial control. Can't imagine its run that bad if people from other towns are willing to pay their local school taxes and then pay more to send their kids to Point Beach.
