"Pink Out Point Beach" to Help Fight Cancer

Point Beach downtown stays open later, starting today, and donates towards cancer fight

"Pink Out Point Beach" is starting today, which means later hours and a chance to help fight breast cancer. Many Point Pleasant Beach merchants will be open until 8 p.m. in the downtown area of Arnold and Bay avenues and donating a portion of their proceeds from noon until 8 p.m. to the American Cancer Society. "Pink Out Point Beach," coordinated by the Point Beach Chamber of Commerce, runs from tonight, (Friday, Oct. 5) through Halloween, Oct. 31. Seafood Festival on Sat. in Point Beach

  Seafood, wine, live music and pony rides and games for the kids are among the offerings at the Festival of the Sea in Point Beach on Saturday. The event, known locally as "the seafood festival" and sponsored by the Point Pleasant Beach Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with Sunday scheduled as the rain date. The Festival of the Sea is a street fair located in the heart of downtown Point Pleasant Beach, where Arnold and Bay avenues will be closed for the festivities. Visitors can sample dishes by 25 of the area’s finest restaurants (from clam chowder to lobster to steak). There is no admission price to enter the festival. Cancelled: Point Beach Classic Car Cruise Will Not Be Held Tonight

Next car show planned for Oct. 7

The Classic Car Cruise planned in Point Beach tonight has been cancelled due to predictions of rain, according to the Point Beach Chamber of Commerce. The next car show, featuring antique cars, hot rods, trucks and motorcycles. is scheduled for noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 7, with a rain date of Oct. 14. When the next one is held, the downtown sections of Arnold and Bay avenues will be closed to through traffic. Ed Austin, DJ Tommy Lynch and the Dance Theatre Project Dancers will provide live entertainment, according to the chamber website. The monthly Classic Car Cruise will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Arnold and Bay avenues, Point Beach. The event is held monthly by the Point Pleasant Beach Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by DeFelice of Point Pleasant Auto Center, Route 88, Point Borough and All Points Printing and Graphics. Registration for Pop Warner Football, Cheer on Sunday

Registration 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Elks, Arnold Avenue

  Registration is being held on Sunday for Golden Elks Pop Warner football, cheer and the Challenger program. Registration is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Point Pleasant Elks Lodge, Arnold Avenue, Point Beach. There is a $60 fee for ages 5 and 6 for traditional flag football and flag cheer. (Registrants must be 5 years old by July 31, 2012.) The Mighty Mites up to Midgets Football or Cheer is for ages 7 to 15. The fee for the first child is $150, $125 for the second, $100 for the third and the fourth is free. Point Borough Man Facing More Charges After Alleged Bank Robbery

Daniel Skokos also faces drug charges filed by Wall police

A Point Borough man originally charged with robbing a bank in Neptune City is now facing additional charges including drug possession and resisting arrest stemming from his arrest in Wall Township, according to Monmouth County authorities. Daniel Skokos, 28, has been charged by the Wall police department with hindering prosecution, possession of a hypodermic needle and use of drug paraphernalia, according to the Monmouth County Jail website. The police story on Skokos starts with him allegedly robbing cash from Central Jersey Bank, 300 West Sylvania Avenue, Neptune City by handing a note with a threat to a bank teller on April 12, said Thomas Huth, an assistant Monmouth County prosecutor. Point Borough Man Charged in Neptune Bank Robbery

Daniel Skokos accused of threatening a bank teller

A Point Borough man has been arrested for allegedly robbing a bank in Neptune and making terroristic threats, police said on Monday. Daniel C. Skokos, 28, who lives on the 1100 block of Arnold Avenue, has been arrested for allegedly committing robbery and threatening to harm a bank teller last Thursday, according to a copy of a police complaint. Skokos is accused of "threatening to commit harm purposely to terrorize" a teller, according to a copy of a complaint filed by the Neptune City Police Department which does not specifically name the bank teller. Skokos was lodged in Monmouth County jail on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to have a first court appearance on Wednesday, according to the complaint. The complaint states that Skokos …
