A few local businesses also raising money for the alcohol and drug free event at Atlantic Club
Buy flowers to help local Point Borough High School graduates stay safe after graduation. The annual Spring Flower and Plant Sale is the last major fundraiser for Project Graduation and the deadline to order is Friday. So far, sales are way behind last year's. "We really count on the flower sale to help cover the costs of the night," said Nancy Pazienza of the the committee planning the alcohol and drug free night at the Atlantic Club in Wall following the June 18 graduation. "So far we have less than half the amount of orders we had last year and a third of the amount of sales. The orders and payment need to be in school by 2:30 p.m. Friday. Or they can email me or call me (732-604-0750) and we will come pick the orders up." Project …

Events and planning crucial to make Project Graduation happen
Planning and events gearing up for Point Borough's Project Graduation are coming soon and may make the difference between having Project Graduation or not having it. Project Graduation is a supervised, alcohol-free celebration at The Atlantic Club in Wall following the Point Borough High School graduation in June. Organizers say the event is crucial to help prevent graduates from drinking and driving after graduation. The planning and fundraiser events leading up to Project Graduation start with: The three major fundraisers lined up in the next three months, which have to be successful to make Project Graduation a reality, are: While it may seem like the June graduation date is far away, there are actually less than 100 school days until…

Sales for Point Borough High School are lagging due to Superstorm Sandy
The Project Graduation Committee is urging the Point Borough community to buy Christmas trees, poinsettias and holiday greens by Monday to make sure the alcohol-free event happens next June. The night at the Atlantic Club following the Point Borough High School graduation is at risk of becoming a secondary victim of Superstorm Sandy because organizers lost a few valuable weeks to sell the holiday flowers and greenery. Sales started at the end of October, just as the storm was hitting and then the local public schools were closed for two weeks, so sales are way behind and the deadline is Monday. "We are trying to focus on not letting Sandy take the holiday out of Point Pleasant and to let Project Graduation bring the holiday spirit with …

Petal Street Flower Co. donating part of corsage and boutonniere sales to Project Graduation
Point Borough High School parents are urging the community to take a few minutes out of their weekend to help Project Graduation be a success. Those who ordered flowers from the Project Graduation Committee need to pick them up at the high school cafeteria between 9 a.m. and noon Saturday. For those who neglected to order by last week's deadline, and are kind of regretting it, there is still one last chance. Come to the high school cafeteria Saturday morning and pick out some flowers, on a first come-first served basis, from those not already set aside to fill orders. On Sunday, the Project Graduation Committee will have a car wash, "for goodwill donations" from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the STS parking lot on Bridge Avenue, said Noelle Grcic of…

Committee planning the alcohol-free, post-graduation party needs a lot more flower sales to make Project Graduation successful
The Project Graduation Committee is urging the greater Point Borough community to buy some flowers - fast! The deadline has been extended to Friday because the number of flower sales are down 30 percent compared to last year, said Noelle Grcic, one of the parents heading up the small, but determined, parents' committee trying to plan the kind of Project Graduation that Point Borough High School graduates will want to attend. The committee, through other fundraisers, has raised enough money to pay the Atlantic Club in Wall for use of its facility after the June 13 graduation. However, the committee sorely needs more funds to make sure there are enough activities to keep the graduates nice and busy during the event which begins after …

Proceeds help pay for alcohol-free party after graduation
Nothing says spring like a burst of blooms and there's nothing like buying them so the money helps young people. That's the idea behind the sale of gorgeous, multi-colored, fragrant spring flowers being sold to help fund Project Graduation, an alcohol-free party after the June 13 Point Borough High School graduation at the Atlantic Club in Wall. Those interested can print out the form here (see attached PDF) or on the Virtual Backpack page of the school district website. All forms must be submitted to Jim Foley (jfoley@pointpleasant.k12.nj.us), the drug and alcohol counselor, at the high school's main office by Wednesday. Pick up is from 9 a.m. to noon May 5 in the high school cafeteria.
