Avoid washing clothes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. if water not running clear
Hydrant flushing in Point Borough starts Monday, April 1, and continues for six weeks from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. During the six-week period, it's best to check your water to make sure it is running clear before washing clothes. If flushing is being done in your neighborhood and you do laundry, the clothes are likely to be streaked with yellow or brown stains. For more information, see the attached PDF.

UPDATE: Central United Methodist Moves Location, Continues to Serve
Here are a few of the local places distributing clothing, nonperishable food and other items to those impacted by Sandy. Please note that Brave New World, Point Beach High School and the Point Borough relief station, which is moving to the old Tally's car showroom site on Bridge Avenue Monday morning, are not accepting clothing donations. Local places include: Peg Born, a Point Beach resident, said in an email: "The community came out today to follow through on a fabulous idea from Joanna Douglas, a fourth grade Teacher at G. Station with supplies will move to former car dealership lot on Bridge Avenue
The relief station outside Borough Hall in Point Borough will move to the old Tally's showroom, 2138 Bridge Ave., Point Borough, on Monday. The move is expected to begin around 9 a.m., but it will take a while to move all of the supplies. Volunteers who are willing to help with the move are asked to arrive at Borough Hall by 8:30 a.m. Monday. The relief station, which will close at 6 p.m. today (Sunday) needs: The Borough Facebook page also asks for residents to loan the relief station folding tables with their names and addresses and phone numbers written on them so they can be returned. John, I empathize and that is not a word I usually use. But I'm using it now because my water in my house in Point Borough has been mostly brown since Mon. morning. I bought gallons of bottled water for my family to drink, I did a load of laundry very early this morning when it was running clear, before flushing began, and we're managing the best we can like everyone else.
