As Boat Show Season Kicks Off, Few Local Captains Are Sailing

Atlantic City International Power Boat Show will begin Wednesday, Feb. 2

At least the surfers were able to make the best of this week’s nor’easter. For anglers, frigid temperatures followed by the Shore’s latest bout with snow meant boats were tied to the dock, tackle shops were closed and most of our local captains had high-tailed it to Florida or the islands to escape the weather and wet a line. One of the Web sites I often visit to check fishing reports is Mark Marquez’s FishingReportsNow.com. But even Mark’s diligently-updated report, this week, is prefaced with a message warning potential anglers that few boats are sailing and the shops have, well, closed up shop.
