Reminder: Point Boro Schools Have Half Day Mon.

Point Beach schools are closed Monday

  Point Borough schools have a half day this Mon., Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and Point Beach schools are closed. Borough had originally planned to close for the King holiday, but, after Sandy, scheduled it as a half day to help make up for the days lost to the storm. Point Beach Schools Make Up "Sandy" Days

Schedule changes to compensate for days lost

  Point Beach public schools are making a few revisions to the school year calendar to make up for days lost to Superstorm Sandy. The changes are that there will be a full day of school on Feb. 15th and half days on Feb. 18th and Feb. 19th, said Point Beach Business Administrator Brian Savage. The two half days will be used for professional staff development after students are dismissed. The Point Beach public schools were closed from Oct. 29th, when Sandy struck the Jersey Shore, through Nov. 2 and then from Nov. 5 through Nov. 7 the following week. The district had originally planned to be closed on Nov. 8 and 9 for the annual New Jersey Teachers' Convention in Atlantic City. However, that convention was canceled due to the storm. The …
