Drunken driving, minor drug possession, resisting arrest among charges
A slew of people were arrested and charged with varying offenses over the weekend, police said. Chelsea Hare, 29, of Allentown was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on I-195 around 12:15 a.m. Saturday. Patrolman Todd Verrecchia was the arresting officer, Sgt. Frank Lancellotti said. Glenn Sowul, 21, of Wall was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after he lost control of his car, struck a fence, a stop sign and a street sign on 18th Avenue aound 1:00 a.m. Saturday. Charged with drunken driving
Richard Peoples, 57, of Point Pleasant, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop at Routes 33 and 34 in Wall late Saturday night, Sgt. Frank Lancellotti said. Wall Patrolman Hunter Brockriede was the arresting officer. Wall Police also arrested Joseph Rosato, 20, of Ridgefield Park. He was arrested and charged around 9:30 p.m. Saturday with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana following a traffic stop on Route 35. Detective Sean O’Halloran was the arresting officer, Lancellotti said.

Bay Head man hits pole on Route 34 and causes wide power outage in southern section of town
Much of the southern section of town was out of power for several hours overnight after a Bay Head man crashed his pickup truck into a utility pole, shutting down a state highway while repairs were made, police said. Lawrence Hesse, 50, snapped a pole on Route 34 north near Holly Boulevard around 12:30 a.m. when he lost control of his 2012 Ford F350, Sgt. Heath Bono said. Live electrical lines were strewn across the state highway, where the arching power lines eventually tripped their breakers, causing the widespread loss of power, Bono said. Jersey Central Power & Light crews responded. State Department of Transportation crews assisted with traffic control. Power was restored and the highway was reopened around 3:45 a.m., Bono said. Son of longtime, former Asbury Park Press publisher drives car into bushes
The son of the former publisher of the Asbury Park Press was arrested and charged Monday with drunken driving after running his car off the road and into some bushes. Jules L. Plangere III, 67, of River Road in town, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated around 8:10 p.m. by Patrolman Mike Malone, Sgt. Frank Lancellotti said. Police responded to a call that a car near the Atlantis Diner on Route 35 South near Old Bridge Road had left the road and hit some bushes in the lot of the restaurant. Malone found a disoriented Plangere had lost control of his white BMW 528 and crashed into the shrubery. Police arrested and charged a trio of area residents in unrelated traffic stops over the past two days, police said Monday. Jonathon M. Murrin, 23, of Brick, was arrested and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana after a traffic stop on Route 35 around 12:30 a.m. Monday, Sgt. Frank Lancellotti said. A three-car collision on Route 138 Monday sent four people to the hospital and ended with an arrest for drunken driving, police said. Alexandra D. Kelly, 21, of Bay Head, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and assault with auto after causing the pile-up on the eastbound side of the state highway near the Good Sports facility between Allenwood Road and Route 18, Sgt. Pete Lokerson said. Kelly was driving a Dodge pickup truck eastbound around 6:40 p.m. when she struck the rear of a vehicle, pushing it into two other cars. @nemi raf... marijuana has many health benefits and how many does alcohol have hmmm. Alcohol is legal because it kills people plain and simple. A form of population control.
