Point Boro Earth Day Today Noon to 4 p.m.

Remember to bring personal care items for victims of sexual assault

  Volunteers are setting up now for Earth Day to be held from noon to 4 p.m. today at Riverfront Park, River Road, Point Borough. Those planning on going are asked to bring personal care items for victims of sexual assault. There will be a table with Girl Scouts collecting the items. For more information on that, please click here. Admission is free. There will be 90 vendors, food, music, a farm animal petting zoo, rides and games for the kids and lots of useful information from nonprofit organizations, such as the Point Pleasant Borough Environmental Commission, which is running the event, The Friends of Island Beach State Park and many others. Bring Toiletries to Point Boro Earth Day on Sat.

Girl Scouts collecting personal care items for sex assault victims

  The public is encouraged to bring new personal care items to Point Pleasant Borough's Earth Day at Riverfront Park on Saturday. Girl Scout Troop 71 will have a booth at the annual Earth Day event and will collect personal care items to give to victims of sexual assault who are treated in hospital emergency rooms throughout Ocean County. The collection, which is sponsored by the county Advisory Commission on the Status of Women, will assist the county Prosecutor's Office Special Victims' Unit, Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).   The SART members are available to offer victims of sexual assault comprehensive, compassionate, and victim-centered care. Poster Contest Preps Point Boro for Earth Day

Four winners will get prizes on Earth Day, April 21

  Four Point Borough children just got picked as poster winners, the first place winner will see her design on a T-shirt, and that's just the warm-up to a day of fun and learning on Earth Day on April 21 at Riverfront Park. Emma Melito, in Diane McHugh's fourth grade class at Nellie F. Bennett Elementary School, won the first place award, a $100 savings bond, in the annual Earth Day poster contest. That means Special T Graphics, 3105 Bridge Ave., Point Borough, will re-create her unique design on a T-shirt. It's all part of the Point Borough Environmental Commission's Earth Day poster contest, T-shirt creation and plans for Earth Day at Riverfront Park on River Road.
