Mike Dalton band performing and lots of raffles and prizes
The Second Annual Point Borough PBA #158 fundraiser will be held at Jack and Mike's Brickhouse Bar and Grill from 1 to 5 p.m. today (Sun., May 19). The event, at 979 Cedarbridge Ave., will feature "top shelf open bar, hors d'oevres and an all you can eat buffet," according to the promotional flier (see attached). There will be raffles, with prizes and T-shirts awarded to winners, and the Mike Dalton Band will perform. Tickets are $60 per person. Proceeds will go to Special Olympics, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, local scholarships and other local, worthy causes, police said. Proceeds donated to Point Beach student's team to fight deadly disease
Proceeds from sales at Sundaes on Route 88, Point Borough, on Thursday will go to a Point Beach High School student's effort to help fight the deadly disease that plagues him. Trevor Thomas, 15, a Point Beach High School student and Brick resident, is asking the community to come enjoy some ice cream and help him raise money for research for a cure for cystic fibrosis. The money raised will go to "Team Trevor" participating in the Great Strides Walk to cure Cystic Fibrosis to be held in Point Pleasant Beach on Sunday. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited, chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the U.S. (70,000 worldwide), according to the Cystic Fibrosis website. Community Watch plans for Night Out
A car wash to raise money for National Night Out is being held from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. today at ME Sabosik Associates parking lot, 2419 Bridge Ave., Point Pleasant Borough. Community Watch is holding the car wash to raise funds for National Night Out on Aug. 6. All donations are greatly appreciated, says a flier from Community Watch. National Night Out is designed to help bring neighbors and residents together to get to know each other so neighbors will be more likely to watch out for each other's families, homes and cars. There have been some examples of residents calling police about suspicious persons or activities that have led to crimes being prevented or information leading to arrests. Team captain meeting tonight
Participants in Relay for Life at Point Borough High School on Saturday are asking their friends and neighbors to support their efforts to fight cancer. The fundraiser for the American Cancer Society will be held from 4 to 10 p.m. Sat. at the high school stadium field. It will not continue as an overnight event as did last year's fundraiser held at Community Park. The event, like last year's, is expected to draw hundreds of participants and supporters. As planning continues, there is a captain's meeting tonight (see attached PDF for details). PTO fundraiser is at Jenkinson's
G. Harold Antrim Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is holding a “Rockin’ the 80s” fundraiser at 7 p.m. Saturday at Jenk's Club on the boardwalk. Admission to the First Annual Spring Dance Fundraiser is $20, which includes a buffet from 7:30 to 10 p.m. and dancing. "Dance the night away in your 80’s attire with the bands 1.21 Gigawatts and Brian Kirk and the Jirks," says a prepared statement from the PTO. Fundraiser for scholarships and varsity banquets
The Point Pleasant Athletic Booster Association is having a golf outing fundraiser for Borough High School athletic student scholarships and varsity sports banquets. The 19th Annual Athletic Boosters Golf Outing will be at 12:30 Sunday at Cruz Golf Country Club, Farmingdale. The Michael Stacy Memorial Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce that its fourth annual Golf Outing and Dinner will be held at Woodlake Country Club in Lakewood on May 13. Event features live bands and prizes at Jenk's Club, Point Beach, April 21
Nine of the Jersey Shore’s top musicians will come together on April 21 at Jenks Club, Point Beach, to help the Monmouth and Ocean victims of Hurricane Sandy and the nurses of Ocean Medical Center. “Rock for the Nurses – Rock for the Shore” will start at 11 a.m. at Jenks Club at Jenkinson's, 300 Ocean Avenue on the boardwalk. Other schools confirm receiving money from Jan. 19 fundraiser
Another fundraiser for local schools impacted by Superstorm Sandy will be held at Martell's on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk tonight. Stephanie Salardino, who has been planning and coordinating fundraisers for months, and Shore 2 Recover, are partnering to sponsor tonight's fundraiser from 5 p.m. to midnight at Martell's. The admission fee of $25, for non-stop live music and complimentary dinner buffet, will be donated as follows: $20 to Hugh J.
