"Rockin' the 80s" Antrim Fundraiser on Sat. Night

PTO fundraiser is at Jenkinson's

  G. Harold Antrim Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is holding a “Rockin’ the 80s” fundraiser at 7 p.m. Saturday at Jenk's Club on the boardwalk. Admission to the First Annual Spring Dance Fundraiser is $20, which includes a buffet from 7:30 to 10 p.m. and dancing. "Dance the night away in your 80’s attire with the bands 1.21 Gigawatts and Brian Kirk and the Jirks," says a prepared statement from the PTO. Prizes will be awarded for the “King and Queen of the 80’s Prom Look,” “Best 80s Celebrity Impersonator” and "The Best 80s Hair: highest and best mullet.” Jenkinson’s donated use of the club, buffet, two bands and DJ for the event, according to the PTO. Police Patrolling Antrim School After Search was Done

A questionable phone call prompted a search, but it was all clear

  Police are patrolling the G. Harold Antrim Elementary School today and continuing to investigate a call that had prompted them to search the school on Wednesday, said Point Beach Police Chief Kevin O'Hara on Thursday morning. The school was searched after students had been dismissed on Wednesday afternoon, nothing was found and there was no incident, said O'Hara. He added that the investigation is ongoing and police are not yet disclosing the exact wording of the call left as a recorded message on the school's attendance line. "The message was not specific as to any threat, it was a four or five word message," O'Hara said. "The message was very vague and there are different ways to interpret it. Antrim School Competes in State Problem-Solving Competition

First time Antrim competing on state level of Future Problem Solvers competition

  A group of students from G. Harold Antrim Elementary School in Point Beach will compete in a problem-solving competition on March 16  at Montclair State University. The students are in fourth, fifth and sixth grades and this is the first time a group from a Point Beach school has advanced to the state level in the national program, said Glenn Paesano, whose son is among the competitors. Antrim PTO Meeting, Prizes, Events and Fun Coming Up

PTO asks parents to help make year successful

  The first PTO meeting at the G. Harold Antrim Elementary School will be held on Thursday, which is the day after students return to school. The social begins at 6:30 p.m. and the general meeting begins at 7 p.m. Everyone who attends the meeting will be entered in a drawing to win three great prizes: a $50.00 gift certificate to 709, a BEACH Sweatshirt and a $20.00 Hoffman’s gift card. Snacks and refreshments will also be served. The new executive board of the Antrim PTO, Erin Mathioudakis, Peg Born, Suzanne Shea, Julia Porter and Lisa Whelan, welcomes all students and families “back to school" and asks more parents to volunteer to help make events and the school year successful. Last Chance to Register for Point Beach Summer Camp is Sat.

Registration is at Pleasure Park

The last chance to register for Point Beach Recreation summer camp is Saturday. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon at Pleasure Park, Forman Avenue, Point Beach. Camp will usually be held at Pleasure Park, except for rainy days. This year, camp will be held rain or shine since the program now has use of the G. Harold Antrim Elementary School for rainy days.
