Bring Toiletries to Point Boro Earth Day on Sat.

Girl Scouts collecting personal care items for sex assault victims

  The public is encouraged to bring new personal care items to Point Pleasant Borough's Earth Day at Riverfront Park on Saturday. Girl Scout Troop 71 will have a booth at the annual Earth Day event and will collect personal care items to give to victims of sexual assault who are treated in hospital emergency rooms throughout Ocean County. The collection, which is sponsored by the county Advisory Commission on the Status of Women, will assist the county Prosecutor's Office Special Victims' Unit, Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).   The SART members are available to offer victims of sexual assault comprehensive, compassionate, and victim-centered care. Girl Scout Cookie Sales Start Friday

Some good news in the heart of winter in Point Borough and Point Beach: Friday (Jan. 18) marks the beginning of the annual Girl Scout Cookie sale. Girl Scouts will begin selling Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Shortbreads, Peanut Butter Patties, Lemonades, Thanks-A-Lots and Peanut Butter Sandwiches. Part of the revenue from cookie sales goes directly to local troops, helping them raise money for special activities, field trips and service products. Local troop leaders also integrate the cookie sale program into teaching girls goal-setting, decision-making, money management, people skills and ethics.
