Officers saved lives before and after Sandy
Point Beach Mayor Vincent Barrella, Borough Council and Police Chief Kevin O'Hara honored Point Beach police officers and Coast Guard for saving lives before, during and after Superstorm Sandy. The officers were honored with plaques and a lot of applause at Tuesday night's council meeting. But Rollano's MaryAnna's Summer Sweet Tea is now a national award winner, as judged by industry experts. Recognizing the best tasting iced teas, the North American Tea Championship (NATC) is shining the spotlight on the most notable, high quality bottled iced teas commercially available in the North American marketplace. The North American Tea Championship was recently held in Montebello, Calif. at the Wilbur Curtis headquarters, for the evaluation of iced teas. John McAllen to meet President Obama
Not only is a Point Borough High School Math teacher receiving the highest national teaching honor, but he will get to thank President Obama for it in person. Math Teacher John McAllen is one of only 46 Math teachers in the U.S. to receive the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching. High School Principal Linda Rocco recognized McAllen at the conclusion of her address to graduates on Wednesday night. “I have some very exciting news to share about one of our teachers, who has touched the lives of so many here today,” she said. “I am so proud to announce that Mr. John McAllen has been named recipient of The Presidential Award in Mathematics Teaching!
