Point Boro CFO Swisher Resigns Post
Hired in March 2011 part-time, she says her Borough job combined with Mantoloking full-time job has become too much
A little more than a year after she was hired to help Point Borough sort out its financial mess, Michelle A. Swisher is resigning as the town’s part-time chief financial officer. Swisher’s letter of resignation was accepted by the Borough Council at its meeting on Tuesday night, though not unanimously, as the vote was split 4-2 along party lines. Democrats Christopher Leitner and Christopher Goss voted no. Swisher also is the full-time tax collector and chief financial officer for Mantoloking. In a telephone interiew on Wednesday morning, Swisher said she is staying at the job in Point until a replacement is found. Regardless of the reason Ms Swisher has decided to resign, I hope every effort has been exhausted to get her to reconsider. She has a rare combination of expertise, efficiency and an ability to work with both democrats and republicans. Her talents played a key role in avoiding the downgrade of the town’s credit rating.
