Attorney General: Troopers in High-Speed Luxury Car Escort Altered Plates

The troopers have been criminally charged in connection with the March 2012 incident.

Two New Jersey state troopers accused of leading a high-speed escort on the Garden State Parkway for a fleet of luxury cars have been criminally charged, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office announced. The New Jersey State Police (NJSP) received complaints regarding the March 2012 caravan to Atlantic City, and the troopers were subsequently suspended without pay in April. In a press conference in Trenton on Friday, Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa said the troopers who conducted the unauthorized escort "turned our highway into a virtual speedway." "What they did was absolutely wrong," he said. An investigation by the Division of Criminal Justice into the incident found that the troopers, Sgt. First Class Nadir Nassry, 47, and Trooper…

It seems that there are a number of cases of state troopers abusing their authority and position. Even prior to this, I have read of news of state troopers who have been issued suspension for falsification and tampering because they were escorting a high-speed caravan, etc. I became more aware of this I when I was searching for car parts news and car news over the internet. Why it caught my …   more ›

Season starts this week

With hurricane season officially starting on Friday the state is taking steps to try and avoid a repeat of Irene in 2012. New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness Director Edward Dickson and New Jersey State Police Superintendent Colonel Rick Fuentes recently announced some of the changes being made. That includes an increase in communication to help residents prepare for emergency situations. With hurricane season running through Nov. 30 Dickson said hopefully with preparation New Jersey residents will be ready should a similar storm strike the state. This sneeky, incipient menace is small potahtoes (sic intentional - I like the sound of that and it adds to the impression of sophistication already inherent in my writings and such) compared to HURRICANES. Accident That Killed Barnegat Motorcyclist Was 'Traumatic,' Freeholder Says

No charges filed, investigation ongoing, State Police say

Although he was not physically injured in the Friday evening crash that took the life of a 24-year-old Barnegat motorcyclist, the accident has left its mark on Freeholder John P. Kelly. "I'm very sorry that a young man lost his life," Kelly said this morning. "That's all I have to say right now. I'm physically fine. It's traumatic." New Jersey State Police did bloodwork on Kelly after the Friday night crash that killed William D. Kolb on Route 9 South in Eagleswood. "They drew blood, which is standard procedure," Sgt. Harry Rocheskey said this morning. "The results are pending. He (Kelly) gave his consent to the procedure." The time to get the results from the bloodwork back varies, Rocheskey said. Kolb was heading southbound on his black …

He would have never passed a car "in a hurry heading into on coming traffic" Some of these comments are just plain rude and inconciderate... PS- who here can honestly say they havent passed a car on the right before? this is new …   more ›

State Police to Early-Season Boaters: 'Use Caution'

Despite gradually warming air temperatures, accidents in cold water can be fatal, police warn

New Jersey State Police warned shore residents that with the water temperatures still chilly, boaters need to take extra precautions or risk serious, potentially fatal accidents. “Historically speaking, as soon as warm weather comes upon us in the spring time, that’s when we see an increase in recreational boating,” said Trooper Christopher Kay of the State Police. “But don’t forget the fact that the water is going to be considerably cooler than the air.” State police said they did not receive any notifications of cold-water death so far this year – and none last year. But in 2010, eight fatal boating accidents occurred throughout New Jersey, five of them in March and April, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. “Falls overboard are the most …
