New Emergency Management Coordinator appointed as Borough continues tackling Sandy's aftermath
Council members Toni DePaola and Bill Borowsky were sworn in to three-year terms at Sunday's organization meeting at Borough Hall. Jerry Dasti was reappointed municipal attorney with the lone no vote cast by Council member Chris Goss. Goss was also the lone no vote when votes were taken for a number of other appointments including: Council member Robert Sabosik as council president and as a planning board member; Hutchins, Farrell, Meyer and Allison to be reappointed municipal auditor; Jan L. Wauters of Bathgate, Wegener and Wolf to be bond counsel and appointment of T & M Associates as municipal conflict engineer. Two Republicans will be sworn in as council members
Point Borough Council members Antoinette DePaola and William Borowsky will be sworn in as council members at today's organization meeting at noon at Borough Hall. Borowsky was appointed to a council seat last year and then won election to keep the seat in November. In November, DePaola was re-elected. See meeting agenda as attached PDF.

Another stretch of boardwalk added to the post-Sandy rebuild project
Two Point Beach council members were sworn in and council agreed to add another stretch of boardwalk to the upcoming renovation project. Andy Cortes, just elected to council for the first time, and Stephen Reid, who had originally been appointed to council in December, 2011 and then won election in November, 2012, were both sworn in as council members. Cortes, just after being sworn in, said, "I want to thank the Republican club and the voters who came out in adverse conditions to vote for Stephen and me. Sue Byington becomes board president
Point Borough Board of Education newcomers Peter Hetzel and Nancy Pazienza, along with incumbent Rick Ruiz, were sworn in at Thursday night's organization meeting at Ocean Road School. The board voted unanimously for Board Member Sue Byington to serve as board president and Ruiz to serve as vice president and as New Jersey School Boards Association Delegate. Byington was absent due to a family health issue. The board also voted unanimously to keep Daniel S. Popovitch, who has been board attorney for more than 20 years, and auditor Jump, Scutellaro and Co., who have been working for the district for more than 10 years.
