Davis filed to run as an Independent candidate
Thomas Davis, whose appointment to the Point Beach Planning Board came under fire in January, is now running for council as an Independent candidate in the Nov. 6 election, according to the Ocean County Clerk's office. There are two, three-year seats up for grabs in the Nov. 6 election. Those seats are now held by Republican Stephen Reid, running for reelection in today's contested Republican primary and Democrat Tim Lurie who is not running for reelection. Mayor Vincent Barrella, who ran successfully twice for mayor as an Independent, appointed Davis, who had been an alternate planning board member, as a full board member, at the Jan. 1 reorganization meeting at Borough Hall. Man, you really are blind! The only reason Barrella appointed Davis to the planning board is because Ammirata supports Reid. Barrella is sticking it to Ammirata. Barrella's philosophy is, you don't support me, now you are finished! It is very personal with him.
