Boardwalk business tells mayor he's not welcome at Sat. night event honoring local volunteers and workers
Martell's is telling Point Beach Mayor Vincent Barrella he won't be allowed to attend the annual Chamber of Commerce Installation dinner at Martell's on Saturday night. Barrella broke the news at the Tuesday night council meeting, as Ed Brannagan, Martell's manager, and Carol Vaccaro, chamber executive director, sat in the back of the room. This year the event honors local fire and first aid volunteers and Point Beach employees who rescued residents, responded to numerous calls and cleaned up the town after Superstorm Sandy. Ronald Gasiorowski, attorney for Martell's, wrote an email to Municipal Attorney Sean Gertner late Tuesday afternoon saying that as Martell's litigation is still pending against the municipality, Barrella will not be…

The Kringle graces the downtown, courtesy of Point Beach Chamber
A whole lot of kids got to see Santa's eyes twinkling up close on Friday night, courtesy of the Point Beach Chamber of Commerce. A long line of children and parents waited patiently outside Ocean County Music and Electronics on Arnold Avenue for their turn to meet Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas. "I want the keys to Daddy's car," said Dominic Silvestre, of Howell, despite that he's barely out of the toddler set. He visited Santa with his brother, Logan. "Sorry, we can't do that," Santa replied, smiling, his dimples how merry. Lorenzo Natoli, 3, asked for Transformers and said he had been a good boy all year long. Volunteers with the Point Beach Chamber of Commerce shot and printed out photographs of Santa and the children …

The 2012 Festival of the Sea was held Sat. in Point Beach
The sun, the food and the fun made a visit to the Festival of the Sea a great time for my family, friends and I on Saturday afternoon. And getting in and out quickly and easily via free shuttle bus was a big improvement over fighting traffic, driving around looking for a parking spot and then walking a long distance just to get to the beginning of the street fair. Residents from Point Beach, Point Borough, Brick, many parts of New Jersey and beyond, ate, drank and partied at the 2012 Festival of the Sea in downtown Point Pleasant Beach. The Point Pleasant Beach Chamber of Commerce, which planned and ran the popular seafood festival, could not have asked for more spectacular weather. The sunny skies and warm, balmy weather attracted …

I have never met Mayor Barrella, but I am appealing to him to PLEASE be kind to the struggling businesses in his town. This is a time when we must show solidarity ! I am owner of Cedar Creek Campground in Bayville and know that many of my guests are visitors to all of the surrounding towns who have been hit hard by storm Sandy. It is very important, especially now, for all of these storm ravaged …   more ›
