Point Boro High School Principal's colleagues offer tributes
Point Borough High School Principal Linda Rocco is retiring to spend more time with her family and to travel. Rocco, 58, of Spring Lake Heights, has four grown children, including a daughter living in London and another in San Francisco. She wants to see them all a lot more often and she's eligible to retire, so, she decided it's time to leave the public high school where she has been principal since 2007. "I have been in education since 1976, the year I graduated Montclair State, so the reason I am retiring is because I can!" said Rocco in an email Wednesday morning. Board of Education accepts Linda Rocco's retirement notice
Point Borough High School Principal Linda Rocco is retiring, effective Sept. 1, prompting the district to conduct a statewide search for a replacement. The Point Borough Board of Education voted unanimously at its workshop meeting Monday night to accept her resignation "for the purpose of retirement," as stated on the meeting agenda. Rocco, a Spring Lake Heights resident, has been principal of Point Borough High School since 2007 when John Staryak retired from the position, which was a year before Schools Superintendent Vincent Smith was appointed superintendent, Smith said. Raymond D. Ellis and four other alumni to be honored by Education Foundation on Friday night
Former Point Pleasant Beach High School Principal Raymond D. Ellis is one of five alumni being honored at the Point Beach Education Foundation Hall of Fame Annual Awards Banquet on Friday night. Ellis and the other new Hall of Famers are being honored at the Crystal Point Yacht Club in Point Pleasant. Cocktails are at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and the inductions at 7:30 p.m. The other honorees are former mayor Jack Pasola, Jennifer Hunziker Kelber, John Christopher Amelchenko and Peter Joseph Ryan.
