What don't all you people the residents get...They don't care about us or our kids...that is the bottom line...They on the other hand, is only worrying about their own pockets and how full they can get them. It is ridiculous how they gouge the residents. I am sick of it already. They just keep on spending our money on over priced school employees. It is ridiculous...to many people are trying to …   more ›

Unfortunately, you will have a better chance hitting the million dollar lottery. Can't change ignorance...or should I say they don't want to change the ignorance...They like it this way. Let's take advantage of the tax payers and their kids. How they fund schools is a scam? How they run the schools is a scam? Wouldn't want to lose their reputation that basically is more important than any kid. If…   more ›

Point Beach Schools Make Up "Sandy" Days

Schedule changes to compensate for days lost

Point Beach public schools are making a few revisions to the school year calendar to make up for days lost to Superstorm Sandy. The changes are that there will be a full day of school on Feb. 15th and half days on Feb. 18th and Feb. 19th, said Point Beach Business Administrator Brian Savage. The two half days will be used for professional staff development after students are dismissed. The Point Beach public schools were closed from Oct. 29th, when Sandy struck the Jersey Shore, through Nov. 2 and then from Nov. 5 through Nov. 7 the following week. The district had originally planned to be closed on Nov. 8 and 9 for the annual New Jersey Teachers' Convention in Atlantic City. However, that convention was canceled due to the storm. The …

No Spring Break for Point Boro Students

Public school district also announces two days added to end of June

The effects of Superstorm Sandy will reach into the middle of June for Point Borough public school students. There will be no weeklong spring break in April, although students will still have off on Mon. April 1, the day after Easter. Also, two days will be added on to the end of the school year in June, and there will be other changes, all to make up for the eight days of school closures just after Sandy ripped through town, according to the district website. The schools were closed for two weeks, which normally would have meant 10 days of no school. However, two of those days, Nov. 8 and 9, had been planned as days off for the annual taachers' convention in Atlantic City. The convention was cancelled due to Sandy but Borough schools …

Point Beach Schools Closed Wed., Will Start Late Thursday

Regular schedule on Friday

Due to the weather forecast, Point Beach schools will remain closed on Wednesday but will reopen on Thursday following a two-hour delayed schedule, said Schools Superintendent John Ravally on Tuesday. "We will be open on Friday for a regular day," Ravally said. "Our hope is to get the kids back together with their teachers and friends as soon as possible so we can best assess how we can help them move forward." The original plan was that all public schools in New Jersey would be closed Thursday and Friday for the annual teachers' convention in Atlantic City. However, the convention was cancelled due to storm damage in Atlantic City. The weather forecast on Wednesday shows there may be a nor'easter causing  coastal flooding, which is a …

Point Beach Schools Closed Mon. and Tues.

St. Peter's closed until Nov. 12

Point Beach public schools will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, according to District Business Administrator Brian Savage. "We will make a determination with regard to the rest of the week by Tuesday evening," Savage said in a text Saturday morning. "If we are able to open later in the week the calendar will be adjusted to add Thursday and Friday as school days along with Wednesday if possible." When Savage referred to the coming Thursday and Friday, he is referencing the fact that the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) cancelled its annual teachers' convention in Atlantic City that had been scheduled for those two days. All public schools, and many non-public schools, in New Jersey had been scheduled to be closed on those two days, …

REALLY?

10:41 pm on Sunday, November 4, 2012

Why is the Business Administrator Brian Savage making the decision in when the school will resume in session? Wasn't he allowed to and did enough damage to the school system already. This is not his department. Why do we have a Superintendent? Shouldn't Dr. Ravally be making the decision in when the school system should resume session. I forgot, Dr. Ravally has changed and he does not make the …   more ›
