A late, improbable rally put Belmar beaches at the top of this week's Readers' Choice poll for favorite Jersey Shore "staycation" spots, with 113 votes. Belmar is known for it's wide, long boardwalk, and its attraction to college-age adults who enjoy the beach and the local night-life. Island Beach State Park, the only natural beach on the Jersey Shore other than Sandy Hook, led for much of the week but finished second with 82 votes. Jenkinson's Boardwalk, which includes an aquarium, rides, food and other seaside pleasures in Point Pleasant Beach, finished third with 77. Thank you for voting in this week's poll. First Runner-Up: New York Bagel

With tax deadline fast approaching on April 17, we asked you where you like to go for last-minute help. Results were inconclusive. There were 15 people who voted for "other," but never wrote the names of the "others" in the Comments section. In future polls, if you vote for "other," please give us the names of the businesses you prefer in the Comments section. There were two votes for H&R Block on Washington Avenue in Point Beach and no votes for any other business listed.

Europa South, specializing in Portuguese cuisine, narrowly won this week's "Ethnic Restaurants" Patch poll. Europa South, on Arnold Avenue and Route 35 South, Point Beach, received 32 of the 101 votes cast. Voila Restaurant, a French restaurant that opened last year on Arnold Avenue, received 26 votes (see box below for full results). Silver Lake Kitchen, Bridge Avenue, Point Borough, received 21 votes. Over the past few weeks we have asked you a lot of questions about your dining choices. We've asked where you go for the best Italian food. Voting is closed
Voting has closed for favorite place to eat out with children in Point Borough and Point Beach, with the greatest number of votes going to Hot Off the Press, Bridge Avenue, Point Borough. The new sandwich spot got 71 votes, or 47 percent of 150 votes cast. Surf Taco came in second with 29 votes, Bubbakoo's with 28 votes, Mon Alyssa with five votes and there were 17 votes for "other." Many businesses in Boro and Beach offering specials
The Shore House edged out The Idle Hour, its neighbor down Route 88 in Point Borough, in Patch's Reader's Choice poll asking readers for their favorite place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Voting took place from Monday morning until Friday morning (March 16) and is now closed. The Shore House, formerly The West Side Tavern, received 57 votes, or 37 percent of the total vote, and The Idle Hour received 42 votes or 27 percent (see complete results in the box below). The Shore House and The Idle Hour, are throwing tent parties in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Lots of family favorites in Point Boro and Point Beach
Point Boro's Riverfront Park is the stand-out favorite, local park, according to an informal Patch poll. Patch asked readers to let us know which parks are your favorite in Point Boro or Point Beach. Voting started Monday morning and ended Friday morning. The top vote getters were 99 votes for Riverfront, which was 46% of the total vote of 214 votes. Next was 87 votes for Pleasure Park, which was 40% of total vote, followed by 16 votes, or 7%, for Community Park. This week readers voted for their favorite Italian restaurants in Point Pleasant Borough and Point Pleasant Beach and the results are mixed. Of the handful listed, the two with the highest number of votes are Graziano's, with 47 votes, or 25 percent, and Spano's with 46 votes, which also registered as 25 percent. However, the largest category that got votes was "other," with many commenting that Mon Alyssa, Bay Avenue, Point Borough, is their favorite. Each week we'll be asking readers to rate their favorite places, so this is the first of many more polls to come.
