Oct. 16 last day to register for November election

  Tuesday, Oct. 16 is the deadline to register to vote. To register in New Jersey, you must be: - a United States citizen - 18 years of age by the next election - a resident of the county for 30 days prior to the election Voter registration can be completed at the Ocean County Clerk's Office, 118 Washington Street in Toms River, 08753. Call 732-929-2018 or access the clerk's website for more information. The clerk's office is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. You are not eligible to register to vote if you are serving a sentence or on parole or probation, as a result of a conviction of an indictable offense under state or federal law and have been judged mentally incompetent. Register to Vote at Point Boro Library Today

The League of Women Voters will be there to make registration quick and easy

The League of Women Voters will hold a voter registration drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today (Sat. Oct. 6) at the Point Pleasant Borough branch of the Ocean County Library on Beaver Dam Road. The League will also have mail-in ballots and voter information. The election is Nov. 6. In Point Borough, voters will be casting ballots for the Borough Board of Education and Borough Council, in addition to state and national offices, including president. In Point Beach, voters will be casting ballots for a contested Borough Council race. The election for Board of Education is uncontested. Children in Nearby Towns Can Now Register for Point Boro Pre-School

Registration was first opened to Boro residents only

Sign up your child now for Point Borough Recreation Department's pre-school program, even if you do not live in the Borough. The "reliable, established, licensed preschool program" has space available in the following classes: Little Learners Classes (age 3 before October 1, 2012): Tuesday & Thursday 8-11am Tuesday & Thursday 12-3 Kinderschool Classes (age 4 before October 1, 2012): Tuesday & Thursday 11:15-3:15 MWF 12-3pm, according to the Recreation Department. Enrollment is now open to residents of Brick, Point Beach, Manasquan and Brielle. Recreation staff said registration was opened up to Borough residents only in April, but, because there is still space available, enrollment is now open to those in nearby towns. Point Boro Sports Camps to Be Held Again

Basketball and football camps coming up this month

Due to popular demand, Panther Sports Camps will again offer basketball and football camps for students entering second through ninth grades. The basketball camp will be directed by Point Borough High School Head Basketball Coach Kevin Hynes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 16  to July 20 at Point Borough High School. The cost of basketball camp is $155. The football camp will be directed by Point Borough Head Football Coach Sean Henry. It will be held from 8 a.m. to noon July 23 to July 25 at the Point Borough High School Junior Varsity Field. The cost of football camp is $100. Camp Openings in Point Boro

A few full-day and some half-day spots open in Boro Rec. camps

  There are a few full-day openings and some half-day openings in Point Borough Recreation Department summer camps for Point Borough children. All camps are held Monday, July 2 through Friday, August 10 and there is no camp on July 4th. The full-day camp is from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for six weeks and is held at the Recreation Center on River Avenue. This camp is for children who have already attended Kindergarten and above and costs $535. There are a few openings in Kindercamp for 4 and 5 year-olds who haven’t yet attended Kindergarten. Cheer Camp Starts July 10 at Point Boro H.S.

  Register for a Summer Cheer Camp by Monday for a free T-shirt. The camp will be held from noon to 3 p.m. July 10 through July 12 at the Point Pleasant Borough High School gym. The camp is for ages 5 through 15 who live in Point Borough and nearby towns and participants will be grouped according to age. Activities include learning and practicing team-building, stunting, jumps, cheers, chants, stretching techniques and arm motions and there will be a performance for parents on the last day. Participants should wear elastic waist shorts and T-shirts that have no buttons, snaps or zippers. The last chance to register for Point Beach Recreation summer camp is Saturday. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon at Pleasure Park, Forman Avenue, Point Beach. Camp will usually be held at Pleasure Park, except for rainy days. This year, camp will be held rain or shine since the program now has use of the G. Harold Antrim Elementary School for rainy days. Register for Point Beach Rec. Summer Camp

Point Pleasant Beach Recreation Department is having registration for the 2012 summer recreation program 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and May 12th at Pleasure Park, Forman Avenue. This year the program has extended the camp hours to 8:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. and there will be no cancelled days due to rain or heat since the camp now has use of Antrim and St. Peter's facilities when needed. The cost of the program is $180.00 and runs from June 26th through August 3rd. This program is available to Point Pleasant Beach residents and taxpayers.

Registration for Pop Warner Football, Cheer on Sunday

Registration 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Elks, Arnold Avenue

  Registration is being held on Sunday for Golden Elks Pop Warner football, cheer and the Challenger program. Registration is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Point Pleasant Elks Lodge, Arnold Avenue, Point Beach. There is a $60 fee for ages 5 and 6 for traditional flag football and flag cheer. (Registrants must be 5 years old by July 31, 2012.) The Mighty Mites up to Midgets Football or Cheer is for ages 7 to 15. The fee for the first child is $150, $125 for the second, $100 for the third and the fourth is free. Last Chance: To Register for Point Borough Full-Day Preschool on Monday

The full-day pre-school program fills up on first day of registration

Anyone who wants to enroll their child in the full day Point Borough Recreation Department preschool program should be on line outside the Recreation Center early in the morning on Monday. The department's preschool program that is held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays fills up during the first day of registration, according to office staff. In recent years, there have been parents stationed outside the gym door (next to the tennis courts and playground) of the Recreation Center as early as 5 a.m. just to get the full day class. The next pre-school program that usually fills up is the 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday class. Registration for enrollment for this fall begins at 9 a.m. only for families…
