Fundraiser runs 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday
Eat at Hot Off the Press on Friday to help the Point Borough High School Boys Hockey team. Ten percent of proceeds from breakfast, lunch and dinner ordered anytime from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. will go to the hockey team. The shop, at 3126 Bridge Ave., Point Borough, is about half a block east of the Stop 'n Shop grocery store.

Fundraisers are for Point Boro High School Band
Back to school means back to Jersey Mike's to help Point Borough High School's band raise funds. Jersey Mike's, as it has done last year and in previous years, will donate 15 percent of its proceeds to the high school band from 5 to 9 on the following nights: Sept. 19; Oct. 3, 10 and 17; Nov. 7, 11 and 21; Dec 5 and 19. Patch will provide a flier to print out and take with you to Jersey Mike's when it becomes available, as Sept. 19 gets closer. Patrons must have the flier with them when they purchase food and beverages for the purchase to count towards the band fundraisers. Only one flier per family or group is needed.

Lorton's Bay Avenue Deli comes in second
US Subs on Route 88, on the eastern end of Point Borough, is the Readers' Choice winner in Point Borough or Point Beach. US Subs won with 145 votes or 43 percent of the total of 331 votes cast. Lorton's Bay Avenue Deli, on Bay Avenue, just off Bridge Avenue, came in second with 80 votes or 24 percent of the total votes (for complete results, please see poll box). Former Point Boro resident Christie Rampone teams up with Jersey Mike's Subs for ad campaign
Former Point Borough resident and U.S. women's soccer captain Christie Rampone has teamed up with Jersey Mike's Subs to provide a series of free instructional videos for kids on the sub chain's website, according to a company release. The first in a series of ten instructional videos is live on the Jersey Mike's website and each week a new video will be posted leading up to Rampone's appearance at the summer games in London, the release says. Rampone, a Point Borough High School graduate, current Manasquan resident and captain of the the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team, is the sub chain's first spokesperson in its 56-year history, the release says.
