Facebook data shows most Jersey users are rooting for the 49ers, switching their allegiance (temporarily) from the Giants or Eagles
It's not a surprise that most Facebook users in New Jersey started the football season solidly supporting the New York Giants or Philadelphia Eagles. "While winning seems to matter, NFL teams have local followings that are probably heavily influenced by family ties and/or where a person grew up," according to Facebook, which recently compiled data on users who are fans of an NFL team on the social network. But now that the locals' seasons are over and the Baltimore Ravens are heading to Super Bowl XLVII against the San Francisco 49ers, Jersey residents have shifted their allegiance. Perhaps surprisingly, the vast majority of New Jersey Facebook users favor the West Coast 49ers, with fans from Cape May, Salem, Gloucester and Camden counties…

On Sunday, millions will tune in to watch one of the biggest sporting events of the year, the Super Bowl. Don't let your party guests go hungry; check out these easy to make Super Bowl recipes. This recipe is inspired by White Lake-Highland Patch Readers Paulette Gollan and Dan Houston. Gollan said, "I use a mini muffin pan, wonton wrappers, seasoned ground beef, shredded cheese and green onions. Bake for 10 minutes. YUM!" Top them off with some salsa, and Houston said you have yourself the perfect snack. I didn't have wonton wrappers or a mini muffin pan on hand, so I tweaked Gollan's recipe a bit and used some tortillas instead. Hundreds of thousands flock to New York to fete Super Bowl winners
Check out the gallery above to see photos from Tuesday's Ticker Tape parade in New York City, celebrating the Giants' victory in Super Bowl XLVI. Hundreds of thousands of fans flocked to the Canyon of Heroes in downtown Manhattan to ring in New York's latest championship. Paper flew from buildings, fans tossed toilet paper rolls back and forth over Broadway Avenue, and the Giants rolled by with smiles as they ended at City Hall to accept keys to the city from Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Two Tuesday celebrations - one in New Jersey and one in New York City - commemorated the Giants win over the Patriots in the Super Bowl on Tuesday. Modell's Toms River store extends hours for Super Bowl celebrants

Well before Super Bowl XLVI's kickoff Sunday evening, fans speculated about what might be the best big game commercials. The first football player I ever liked was a quarterback who got sacked all the time. Every year, his New York Giant teams lost more than they won. Every game, he got battered, booed-at and berated, tossed-around, tackled and "turfed." Every snap, he was there, ready to give it another try, preparing himself for another heap of abuse. Students collect food to donate to homeless in Lakewood
Ocean Road Elementary School students are turning the Super Bowl into a "Souper Bowl" for the sake of residents of Lakewood's Tent City. Students will donate large quantities of non-perishable food, early this week, to those living outdoors in tents in Lakewood, said Jacquelyn Goss, public relations official for the Point Borough school district.
