WED. UPDATE: Boat Had Mechanical Failure Before Hitting Jetty

No injuries when Ocean One Hit Point Beach Jetty at Manasquan Inlet

The Ocean One commercial fishing vessel had a mechanical failure that caused loss of power that led it to collide into the rock jetty on the Point Pleasant Beach side of the Manasquan Inlet, the Coast Guard said on Wednesday afternoon. The scallop boat was coming back into the inlet when it lost power and the shoal that has developed along the jetty since Sandy had nothing to do with the incident, said Coast Guard Petty Officer Dan Wishnoff. Three people were safely rescued from a commercial scalloping vessel that drifted onto the rock jetty on the Point Pleasant Beach side of the Manasquan Inlet on Tuesday night, according to the Coast Guard.
