Avon — Longtime Avon restaurateur Rob Fishman, owner of the Avon Pavilion, went to Borough Hall on Monday to show officials new blueprints for rebuilding the boardwalk mainstay. He left without a restaurant. Read more on Wall Patch Rumson — In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, those living along the Shrewsbury River in the hard-hit West Park section of Rumson rallied to sift through soggy debris, dry out their homes and rebuild. Seaside Park — Nearly three months after superstorm Sandy swamped Island Beach State Park, sections of the park are now open to the public, free of charge. “This partial reopening of Island Beach State Park is an important benchmark in the state’s recovery from Sandy,” Gov. Brick Township — Patrick Doyle, the man who fatally struck and killed a Brick teenager on a skateboard in 2011, will spend the next six months in jail and lose his license for 10 years, a judge ruled Thursday night. Doyle, 55, pleaded guilty to a single count of driving while intoxicated in front of Municipal Court Judge Daniel Sahin in Brick Township municipal court. It is his third DWI conviction. Manchester- Christopher M. Monahan's last tour of duty in the Middle East was his third deployment away from his wife and three small children. The young man joined the U.S. Marines after he graduated from Central Regional High School in 2006. He lived most of his life in Ocean Gate, but had moved to Island Heights before his deployment, according to his obituary from Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home in Toms River. Ocean City- John Thornton, a resident of the Ocean City Homes neighborhood on the south end of Ocean City and a teacher at the Art Institute of Philadelphia, recently completed the final segment of two-part film about the impact of Superstorm Sandy on his friends, neighbors and hometown. As Hurricane Sandy approaches Monday night, damage from the storm can already be seen in Ocean County. Trees, power lines and debris are starting to close roads all over the area. In the barrier islands, flooding has already started taking place. Power is out all over the area as well, in parts of Toms River, and from Vaughn Road to the Tunney and Mathis Bridges. The Barnegat Bay has started to swell, raising water levels in the area, including the Toms River. Check out our photo gallery from around Toms River, Silverton, the bayshore and Seaside.

Little Silver — A Little Silver man faces more than 20 years in prison and the forfeiture of millions in assets after being indicted in an alleged bribery and kickback scheme. George Chrysanthopoulos, 49, was indicted Thursday in federal court in Trenton on seven counts of bribery, mail and wire fraud after he allegedly paid nearly $350,000 in bribes and kickbacks to a state Department of Transportation official and a port terminal operator to secure contracts for his firm, Tarheel Enterprises of Morgan, U.S. Attorney Paul J.
