Event at Riverfront Park, River Road
Live bands, food, a beer and wine garden and a lovely spring evening overlooking the Manasquan River are all part of the Music, Beer and Wine Festival from 1 to 8 p.m. today. The event will be held at Riverfront Park, River Road, Point Borough (see attached PDF for more details). The live bands scheduled to perform are: Marc Ribler and Friends; The Funktion; Miz; Brue Crew and Yard Monsters. For the band schedule for today and for music festival on July 20, click here. The Borough won’t know the cost until after the event, when it's been calculated how much beer and Shadowbrook wine were sold, Borough officials said. What did you like best about Point Boro's Earth Day?
Turtles wriggled, children bounced, goats were fed and life got a little greener at the Earth Day 2013 celebration at Riverfront Park, River Road, Point Borough on Saturday afternoon. The annual event, featuring about 90 vendors and nonprofit groups, live music, food, children's rides, games and face painting and live greyhounds, was again planned and run by the Point Pleasant Borough Environmental Commission. Hundreds of people flocked to the park and got to taste some seafood and barbecue, pet some farm animals, get some information about how to live life greener and smarter and, last but not least, to see live turtles. Remember to bring personal care items for victims of sexual assault
Volunteers are setting up now for Earth Day to be held from noon to 4 p.m. today at Riverfront Park, River Road, Point Borough. Those planning on going are asked to bring personal care items for victims of sexual assault. There will be a table with Girl Scouts collecting the items. Girl Scouts collecting personal care items for sex assault victims
The public is encouraged to bring new personal care items to Point Pleasant Borough's Earth Day at Riverfront Park on Saturday. Girl Scout Troop 71 will have a booth at the annual Earth Day event and will collect personal care items to give to victims of sexual assault who are treated in hospital emergency rooms throughout Ocean County. The collection, which is sponsored by the county Advisory Commission on the Status of Women, will assist the county Prosecutor's Office Special Victims' Unit, Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). The SART members are available to offer victims of sexual assault comprehensive, compassionate, and victim-centered care. Event will be held at Riverfront Park
Point Borough parents, mark your calendars: a pirate show for children will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sat., Oct. 13, at Riverfront Park. The show by Valhalla’s Pirates had been rained out in the summer, but is rescheduled at Riverfront Park, River Road and Maxson Avenue. "We hope you can join us for a show by Valhalla’s Pirates, special raffles that include a beach cruiser and gift baskets containing pirate-themed items and gift certificates to the Pirates on the Manasquan cruise!" says event information posted by ASAP Blinds, which is sponsoring the show. The event is run by the Point Borough Recreation Department.

Annual Point Pleasant Education Foundation fundraiser on Oct. 7
The Point Pleasant Foundation for Excellence in Education will hold its annual Treasure Island Triathlon on Oct. 7 at Riverfront Park. This year’s events feature: Sprint Triathlon; Duathlon; Aqua Bike and Kayak Triathlon. For the first time, the kids triathlon will be held the same day as the adult race. Music, food and beer garden until 9 tonight
A music and food festival with a New Orleans theme is happening now at Riverfront Park, River Road, Point Borough. The concert, featuring a New Orleans theme, includes an opening band playing until about 6:30 p.m. and "James Day and the Fish Fry" scheduled to play from 7 to 9 p.m. To hear a bit of the James Day band, log onto their website. There will be Cajun food and a beer garden offering five varieties of beer. Guests are encouraged to bring folding chairs since seating is limited.

Concerts are July 26, Aug. 2 and Aug. 9, which will feature a New Orleans theme
If you love listening to live music while relaxing in a park with a spectacular river view, keep a few Thursday nights open this summer. Those would be this Thursday, July 26, Aug. 2 and Aug. 9 when concerts are scheduled for Riverfront Park on the Manasquan River in Point Borough. The July 26 concert features "The Jazz Lobsters," an 18-piece swing band, which is scheduled to perform from 7 to 9 p.m. The August 2 concert features "The Bell Bottom Blues," an Eric Clapton tribute band, and is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. The July 26 and Aug. 2 will have a modest offering of food to purchase and will not include any alcohol sales, said Frank Pagano of the Borough Cultural Affairs and Recreation Committee, which is organizing the three events. …

The Point Pleasant Jazz and Blues Festival will be held from noon to 8 p.m. today at Riverfront Park, Point Borough. The Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation’s Summer Series of Festivals, sponsored by Investors Bank, will put on the free show at the park on River Road and Maxson Avenue. Event at Riverfront Park on Manasquan River
The First Annual Riverfront Food and Wine Festival will feature food, wine, music and cooking demonstrations on Saturday at Riverfront Park, Point Borough. The event, from 1 to 8 p.m., will feature a beer garden and local bands and is sponsored by Point Borough. The Project Graduation Committee will be selling water and snacks to help raise money for the alcohol-free event at the Atlantic Club in Wall after the June 13 Point Borough High School graduation.

I came to Earth Day to represent Boy Scout Troop 3 and Cub Scout Pack 3.
