Thank you, Mandy. I appreciate you comment. To me, there is nothing more tragic than to learn of another young person's death by either an accident or an act of neglect, abuse or violence. I pray from the family, relatives, and friends of those poor boys. It also hurts me to see grieving people being mislead by the clergy and end up hating God instead of learning more. Thanks again...

Why Oh why, How am I very wrong? Absolutely, God does have a purpose with everything He does. However, if those teachings are not found anywhere in the Bible, then why try to tell someone grieving something that isn't true? As one who has read the Bible cover to cover many times, have been studying it for 40 years, and have had to comfort many in times of death, there are many places and much encouragement actually found in the Bible...not in some person's made up unbiblical doctrine that misleads people. I don't know about you, but I've had to face people who ended up hating God because someone told them that "God took their loved one for a reason." When I showed told them that wasn't true and showed them from their Bible what it teaches and what hope there is for the dead, they became encouraged instead of discourage and ended up loving God even more than hating him for taking their loved one away. So, in a sense, been there, done that.

Actually, I think it's appropriate that this is posted here because there have been many comments on this article that have clearly touched on this subject. What they take from my comment and wish to learn more about the subject of death, God, the Bible, etc is their business.

Poor guy! That shouldn't have happened. If anything, I hope nothing is mentioned by any clergy about this poor boy dying because "God needed another angel in heaven" or that "he is in heaven right now," because those teaching are not found anywhere in the Bible and do not give family and friends comfort. They just add fuel to the fire and teach people to hate God for this tragedy.

This is what I have been saying since last October. Don't think that Sandy was "the storm to end all storms" and there will never be another one here again. Throughout the past few years since being down here, we have "dodged some bullets" of storms that people never knew were even in the Atlantic at the time. Sandy came and we were eventually hit...and heavy damage followed.

As a National Weather Service and OEM volunteer, I say get ready people. We live at the shore and it is a DANGER ZONE for tropical storms and hurricanes. Hurricane season is coming in June and there can be more storms to come this year.

Heather, oh my! I would hope that a .22 didn't belong to a 6 year old. What was he going to do with it? ride his scooter to a local range or go up north to hunt? Come on. I can't believe you thought I was serious about a 6 year old owning a gun. Wow. Anyway, cousin, neighbor, stranger, etc doesn't make a difference about guns and accidents. The big question is how did a 4 year old get a gun to do this and where were the "so-called gun owners" at the time. This is no complicated case for the FBI. This is about irresponsible people owning guns and little kids getting easy access to them for accidents to occur. I hope the your cousin will be ok and that the guilty pay for this horrific event.

That's what happens when a 4 year old plays around with the 6 year old's gun. Next thing you know, that kid kid will be stealing the other sibling's "stash" intended for "sale." Seriously, what is wrong with these people?? Guns are not toys and should be treated as such. I've been around guns all my life. My parents taught me they were not toys and properly cared for them. There are way too many accidents because people are sooo careless!

Here's the real zinger...some people think that there will never be another storm to hit New Jersey. Throughout the years, we have dodged many bullets and we were finally hit. When it reached us, it wasn't even a Category 1 Hurricane. It was an Extratropical System.

If anything, this can be a dress rehearsal for the storms that may hit us sooner than later...and harder. The slogan should be changed from "Jersey Strong" to "Jersey Prepared." Get ready!

First of all, let me just say that Sandy was technically classified not as a "hurricane" when it hit us, but an Extratropical system. That is one huge reason why insurances have been dragging their feet. Any, with all of this complaining about maps and home modifications, it sounds like people are not expecting another storm to hit us again. Well, it's not a question of if another will hit, but when. We have dodged some many bullets in the past and one got us. However, the "100 year" storms are hit all over every few years. It's time that people change their thinking from "how could this happen" to "get ready for the next one."
