CEFisher, although you sit on the opposite end of my opinion, I can respect what you have to offer and what questions and thought provoking debate you bring to the table. Maybe God does frown upon my insensitivity but at least I'm not in denial about it. I would however like for you to give some reflection on the fact that suicide is a sin in Gods eyes! As far as your brother goes, i'm in total agreement with you that depression is an illness and can say there has been depression in my immediate family. The rhetoric question is, as a family member, were you supportive and do every thing you could do including to participate in counseling and support medication for that person.

I have plenty of compassion, it's just not for people who decide to "attempt" suicide. My heart is for people who will appreciate it. My compassion is reserved for people who deserve it. You ask, what if that persons family or friends are reading this, my response to them without hesitation every time is and always will be, that you failed your friend or family member!

ReplyLet me give you something to really think about Abigail Rue... How about this coward who didn't think things were easy enough for him and decided to disrespect God and his most precious gift to us, which is "Life" itself. It's a sin against God to commit suicide, isn't it Abigail? How are you going to feel if his sadness turns to anger or rage and instead of just taking his life, he was kept alive to kill others on a later date, possibly many others including innocent school children. I'd rather let someone take their own life then to possibly keep the next James Holmes or Adam Lanza alive to cause future chaos on unsuspecting and undeserving victims. Give that some thought before you name call and throw stones at those who have strong beliefs that don't mirror your closed and narrow minded opinions!

What is so inappropriate? That I don't feel the way you do? Just know that if suicide was in my cards, I would be committing it and not attempting it, because I'm not a loser! It sounds like someone in your own family must've been a whining baby who took the easy way out. You are correct though flyboy, I am callous and cold hearted but accept that's who I am.

I'm happy you get it Jimmy! I'm sure more people feel the way we do, but God forbid they're allowed to speak their mind openly without being chastised for it.

Although I don't know him personally, I think your husband and his crew probably do a fabulous job and are excellent at what they do. I only think your husband should've taken his time responding to this call.

I'm not ashamed of having my own thoughts and feelings regarding this story! It should be all of you closed minded individuals who are ready to attack if someone should dare think different than you or your opinion. I believe this same mentality happened in the 40's back in Germany!

ReplyWhy should our tax dollars pay for the helicopter transport if he didn't want to live anyway!

ReplyWhat a loser! He couldn't even succeed at committing suicide.

CEFisher, one last thing to think about. If there wasn't any validity to my point why would the last paragraph of this story have the Police Chief making a statement that, "There was no one else involved or injured in the incident". No, I'm not a psychologist, but it can and does happen.
