Councilman Mayer does not live in District 4. Do you really think he knows what the residents in district 4 is dealing with? I highly doubt it. Who is going to pay for putting a cop on every corner? He hasn't voted in favor of anything that district 4 is dealing with. He voted "No" for parking and "No" on the bar closing. He also had no problem voting for the budget and the increase. The fact is. He is friends with the business owners, more worried about them than the residents. He was like this is the increase nothing can be done. Just take the rather large increase. Sure that is fair. I am sure there is a lot of issues in the budget that we should not be paying for.

Jeff, I understand but the same people that you talk about in their 30's and 40's that loss their jobs can no longer afford to pay for all the businesses here. It is getting hard for some that have jobs to keep up with the increases every year. Police services are not cheap, the extra cost is outrageous along with the cost of town workers because of the BW area is were it is needed. You talk about the businesses closing and the people they hire getting less money or laid off. What about us that has to pay for it all. Residents are not their employer, so why should we pay to begin with. So every company or businesses that is struggling we are expected to pay for them all. You think we should continue to bail them out even though we are struggling. Sorry, but I do not see a problem with families visiting here. Gas prices are hurting all of us, not just businesses. I hate to break it to you negativity has nothing to do with selling your house and the reason why they are selling low. It is hard to sell a home anywhere today period. The good old days are over. Even in the beach. Ask any experience Honest Real Estate agent. Prices are down everywhere and some think they still can ask the high prices that was once fetched 7 to 8 years ago. Unfortunately I know so many that lost money on their house. It is not the house, negativity. It is the market and if they bought high, they have to either let it go low or hold on to it.

ReplyThe other thing that has been spreading through town. Do not know if it is true. Someone asked the BW representatives why don't they open up the 1,600 spaces they have to their bar patrons. This would stop all their customers from roaming, screaming, urinating and what ever else through the neighborhood and this would not even be an issue. I heard the answer was "NO" they do not want the responsibility or accountability of their own customers but they want the town to. If this is true, this is crazy talk. They can charge for parking and a little less for a coverage charge and a little extra for drinks and make up for it easily for extra insurance in case one of their customers do something on their property.

ReplyI go on these all these different post. I have listened to 101.5 political station. I can't help but LMAO. No one is being honest and everyone has their own slant on what is or should be going on here in pt. pleasant. In the end I feel the residents are the ones who are being lied to and lead around by the nose from everyone. They are paying for all of it. The former Mayor's and Council members is not innocent in all the problems that have built over the years or until now. Obviously the residents were never kept in mind when they were doing all there wheeling and dealings with the prior and current deals we have ended up with. Who is anyone trying to kid or convince. Why should the residents have to pay for any extra police services... We would not have to or need all these police, cost of training these police or any extra pertaining to the police or any other services that is needed if the BW was not here in pt. beach. That is the truth. I am sure this process of training the police has to be done every few years. If they are not eventually hired for F/T police positions they go some where else or to another town to get a job. We don't own the beaches so all the fees that we collect are from all those who break the law in one way or another. If we pay out more than what is collected in fees or fines is it all worth it? The residents are not in business to keep others employed wether you are a POLICE or a BW EMPLOYEE. I can understand why they are upset, not my problem.
