I think it's really disgraceful for those of you who denigrate those less fortunate than yourselves. People are people, and some are unable to manage on their own and need some help from the government. With what I hear on the comment sections of all these BRICK PATCH notices, I am really beginning to get a sense of the owners of homes at the Jersey Shore and their anger and arrogance. My house was destroyed 100%--nothing left. I'm not crying the blues like all of you. I have no money left to re build, after having to pay off my mortgage with the insurance I had. But to hear those of you who are attacking less fortunate individuals is really wrong, outrageous and outright mean. Don't forget how many people who were previously well to do and who lost their jobs , their houses, and are now on gov assistance just to be able to eat. SHAME OF YOU! Why don't you leave them alone?

The original writer (Faith Liguori) of this detailed article did a GREAT job of exactly what is happening. I too feel like my life is over, doing 3-4 hrs of paperwork/phone calls everyday, time in addition to working. It's all so crazy. Can we get a petition to the Congress and President. I don't know how to start one, but maybe it would help. I feel for all of us in this horrible situation. Thanks Faith for putting it all in writing. I too have no home at all: it burnt down and flooded in Camp Osborn, Normandy Beach, where my 94 y/o father was living and now displaced, and getting disoriented in a new home. That's the result of natural disaster, but YES, let's get it fixed asap!

Very sad for all of us. We are all involved and it's a horror. I had no idea it would come to this. My mortgage is higher than my insurance will pay, and so I'll have to lay out cash (if I can get some) just to stop paying a bank for an empty lot (the house was burnt, flooded and completely destroyed). Someone was correct: We need a class action lawsuit. We also need to call Congress and the Pres to get the FEMA subsidies back. It's not Obama's fault. Who do you think put that amendment in the bill so that college students could get lower rates? You know which party---and it doesn't start with D!
