Point Boro Man Named JCP&L Emergency Preparedness Manager

William Stevenson, a Point Pleasant Borough resident and volunteer firefighter, has been appointed Manager of Emergency Preparedness for JCP&L. 

The position is a new one designed to enhance coordination and engagement with the New Jersey Regional Operations Intelligence Center (ROIC) and county offices of emergency management, according to a prepared statement from JCP&L. Previously, Stevenson had served as senior safety representative for JCP&L.

Stevenson has more than 45 years of experience as a firefighter, safety instructor and emergency responder. In his 42 years with JCP&L, he has worked in a variety of safety-related positions. He also is certified in the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Incident Command System.

“Bill has a wealth of safety-related experience and a proven track record in emergency response and preparedness,” said Anthony Hurley, JCP&L vice president of Operations. “His expertise will play an important role in our enhanced emergency response activities, which is part of JCP&L’s commitment to continuous improvement in all operational areas.”

Stevenson holds several State of New Jersey Division of Fire Safety certifications ad is a member and former chief of the Point Pleasant Borough Fire Department.

He is as an instructor at the Ocean and Monmouth Fire Academies. In addition, he is an executive board member of the New Jersey Safety Council and a member of the board of directors and vice president of the New Jersey Emergency Preparedness Association.
